State Farm Insurance increases Texas presence through statewide high school partnership
January 25, 2002

DALLAS -– The University Interscholastic League, Fox Sports Net and sales and marketing partner, Host Communications, Inc. (HOST), announced that State Farm Insurance is the latest addition to the Texas High School Championships Corporate Partner Program family. As a result, State Farm will receive unprecedented exposure among the 1,264 high schools in Texas that house a national-leading 755,000 athletes and attract more than 10 million annual athletic spectators.

The three-year agreement through June of 2004 allows State Farm to be the "Official Insurance Provider" of the Texas High School Championships and receive licensing rights to the UIL and Texas High School Championship marks. State Farm also receives exclusive opportunities around 84 Championship events (10 boys, 10 girls sports in five classifications), extensive TV, radio, print and Internet media focused on the Texas high school community.

Specifically, State Farm will produce and distribute a collector poster series, featuring the history of state football champions, as well as be the title sponsor of the "State Farm Scholar Athlete of the Week," which will be awarded each week on High School Xtra, a Fox Sports weekly high school television program.

"State Farm recognizes that helping young people helps all of our futures," said Ron Dodd, regional vice president of State Farm Insurance. "We are proud to be a partner of the UIL because it plays such a significant role in the lives of students in Texas."

"The UIL is proud to welcome State Farm to our Corporate Partner Program," said UIL Director Dr. Bill Farney. "Our Corporate Partners have always been committed to bringing out the very best in Texas' students through interscholastic competition, and the UIL appreciates State Farm Insurance joining in that initiative."

Established in 1997, the Texas High School Championships’ Corporate Partner Program assists in raising overall awareness of the role of athletics in education and provides an organized and professional avenue for corporations to reach the Texas high school community. State Farm now joins Verizon Wireless, Gatorade, Texas Dodge Dealers, Pepsi and 24-Hour Team Sports as current Corporate Partners.

"Supporting education and activities by being good neighbors is nothing new to State Farm. Now more than ever, our youth need support, and State Farm is committed to doing just that," said AdSport's Gary Knudson, who negotiated the agreement on behalf of State Farm.
