Bender joined IMG Associations in 1999. She has spent nearly 20 years of her career is association management, marketing, and communications. Her previous post within IMG Associations was as Executive Director for one of IMG's largest association clients, Quest International Users Group.

Bender came to IMG after five years at the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a national association representing the governors of oil and gas producing states, where she was the Associate Executive Director.

Bender is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in journalism/mass communications.
