Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment Collaborates with IMG College to Secure Naming Rights Partnerships for Rutgers' Football Stadium and Basketball Arena

Jun 30, 2010

BROOKLYN, NY, (June 30, 2010) - Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment (BSE) today announced it will collaborate with IMG College, a division of global sports, media, and entertainment leader IMG, as co-sales agents for the naming rights of Rutgers University's football stadium and basketball arena.

Since launching a division to provide sales, marketing, and consulting services to sports and entertainment properties and venues, BSE has secured naming rights alliances, including for the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and the IZOD CENTER in East Rutherford, NJ.

"With the global and national reach of IMG College, and with BSE's regional and local network, together we will provide Rutgers with prestigious naming rights partners that will share the University's commitment to excellence and success," said Brett Yormark, president and chief executive officer of BSE. "These naming rights opportunities will offer businesses powerful branding exposure in the No. 1 media market in the country. The Rutgers' football program has undergone a spectacular transformation over the past few years, and its upgraded football stadium will play a big role in the program's success. We look forward to teaming with IMG College in continuing to strengthen Rutgers' position as a rising power in college athletics."

With a total fan base of more than 172 million fans, 77 million of which are female fans who influence buying decisions, the college sports market currently is a prime target for corporate marketers. The college market's affluent fan base, with more than 29 million college fans earning more than $100,000, and 17 million fans between the ages of 18 - 24, provides the consumer base most corporations are looking for in a marketing investment.

"We know college sports can deliver one of the most desirable fan bases available for corporate marketers," stated George Pyne, President, IMG Sports and Entertainment. "When you combine the overall appeal of college sports with a top national brand like Rutgers, there is great potential for delivering a strong corporate partner to aid the University in growing its athletic programs."

"The partnership among Rutgers Athletics, IMG College, and Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, in cooperation with Nelligan Sports Marketing, is a truly unique opportunity for us to align with the leaders in their respective fields," said Rutgers Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tim Pernetti. "We are energized to enter this agreement with two companies that know our properties and the landscape in great depth as we explore our naming-rights options."
