Fifth Third Becomes Official Bank of UC Bearcats Football; Expands Relationship with University

Sep 02, 2010

Cincinnati - The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics, IMG College and Fifth Third announced today that the Bank has become an official sponsor of the University of Cincinnati Bearcats Football, in addition to its support of the Jefferson Avenue Sports Complex. The Bank will have a comprehensive presence at Nippert Stadium, including ATM service.

"As two of Cincinnati's most recognized institutions, Fifth Third Bank and the University of Cincinnati have enjoyed a longstanding relationship, including the sponsorship of Fifth Third Arena, executive mentoring, board memberships, scholarship support, not to mention the thousands of UC alumni working for the Bank today," said Fifth Third Bank, Greater Cincinnati, President and CEO, Bob Sullivan. "This alliance provides us an effective way to reach customers and prospects, and also allows us to further support the University, the community and our headquarters city of Cincinnati."

Fifth Third Bank will reach consumers via signage on the interior and exterior of Nippert Stadium, TV/radio/print advertising, online media through and more.

The partnership, which was negotiated through Bearcat Sports Marketing, the multimedia rights partner for the University of Cincinnati Athletics and an IMG College property, will begin with the 2010 season.

"Support from the corporate community is one of the key components pushing UC Athletics to championship levels across the board," says UC Director of Athletics Mike Thomas. "Fifth Third Bank has been a great supporter of our University, and specifically Bearcats Athletics, for many years. Their naming of Fifth Third Arena, the support of the Women's Crosstown Shootout, and many other projects has made them a compelled benefactor committed to helping build UC champions. We look forward to a great future with Fifth Third being a major part of our winning team."
