Mar 31, 2011

ATLANTA, Georgia, (March 31, 2011) – IMG College, a division of IMG Worldwide, today announced that Lawton Logan, Senior Vice President of U.S. Business Development for IMG College, has been named to the SportsBusiness Journal/Daily 40 Under 40 for the second time in two years.

“Our Forty Under 40 program recognizes the very best young talent from the different segments of the sports industry, from teams and leagues, to agencies and media, to sponsors and partners,” said SportsBusiness Journal/Daily Publisher Richard Weiss. “This year’s class is another outstanding group of young men and women who are at the top of their game and who wield enormous influence in sports.”

Following IMG College’s acquisition of ISP Sports, a leading U.S. college and media rights management company, Logan was appointed SVP of Business Development. He now leads the newly established national college sales organization, which is based at the division’s headquarters in Winston Salem, NC and in New York.

In his new role, Logan oversees business development activities for all of IMG’s businesses in North America and for all sponsorship sales, marketing, and strategic partnerships for IMG College. He also manages three sales offices in New York, Atlanta, and Los Angeles.

Previously, Logan was Senior Vice President of Collegiate Properties for IMG College and was responsible for all aspects of IMG College’s multimedia rights business, including P&L oversight, as well as managing the sales, marketing, finance, HR, legal, and accounting at some of the most prestigious collegiate properties across the nation. He was instrumental in the turnaround at Host Communications between 2004 and 2007 and the eventual sale to IMG Worldwide. Since the acquisition by IMG, Logan has helped guide the growth of the multimedia rights business.

“Lawton is an exceptional leader within IMG College and we are honored to have him as an integral part of our team,” said Ben Sutton, President of IMG College. “His tireless work ethic, dedication, and creativity are tremendous assets to the development of our strategy and creation of new sponsorship platforms and opportunities around our College business.”

Before Host Communications, Logan had a successful career at WSB Sports Marketing, a division of Cox Broadcasting, in Atlanta. He developed and sold sports marketing programs and promotional extensions for the radio broadcasts of the University of Georgia, Atlanta Braves, and Atlanta Hawks from 1996 until 2004.

Prior to his tenure at Cox, Logan worked with Hope-Beckham, Inc. in Atlanta, where he supervised marketing, staffing, and stadium operations and was director of sponsorships and promotions for two years.

Logan, a native of Savannah, Ga., is a graduate of the University of Richmond and earned an MBA at Georgia State University.

Logan serves on the board of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the University of Richmond Alumni Association, and the Georgia State MBA Club.

The winners were chosen from hundreds of nominees and were cited for specific achievement in the sports industry, including demonstrations of innovation, entrepreneurialism, leadership and influence. Recipients will be honored at the Forty Under Forty Awards Banquet tonight at the J.W. Marriott Marquis Miami, Florida.
