Bank of the West Inks Sponsorship Deals with Three IMG College Properties In Major West Coast Markets

Jul 26, 2012

Winston-Salem, NC (July 26, 2012) -- A trio of IMG College west coast partner properties undergoing significant renovation projects has inked sponsorship deals with Bank of the West.

As University of California, Berkeley (Cal), University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and the Rose Bowl benefit from capital improvement stadium projects totaling more than $600 million, Bank of the West will remain the official bank of UCLA and CAL and become the official bank of the Rose Bowl, while gaining premium signage space and in-stadium naming rights.

Terms of the bank's five-year sponsorship agreements were not disclosed.

"Bank of the West will generate high-profile exposure at three iconic west coast athletic venues located in very large media markets," said Tom Fletcher, Regional Vice President, West, for IMG College. "Cal's Memorial Stadium, UCLA's Pauley Pavilion, and the Rose Bowl are historic sports venues that have made major improvements to benefit both fans and sponsors. We're thrilled to help the bank expand its successful relationship with Cal and UCLA while adding the Rose Bowl to its already-successful collegiate marketing strategy."

In addition to the "Official Bank" designation at each property, Bank of West's key assets in the sponsorship agreement with these properties include:

• Cal: "Bank of the West BearVision" Football - name affixed to main scoreboard with Bank of the West (BOW) channel-cut letters and BOW Bear graphics at renovated Memorial Stadium in 2012; exterior fa├žade signage at Memorial Stadium; and multiple Bank of the West ATMs placed throughout the stadium.

• UCLA: "Bank of the West BruinVision" - name association to center-hung scoreboard at renovated Pauley Pavilion in 2012-13 and the main Rose Bowl scoreboard during UCLA football games as well as ATMs inside of Pauley Pavilion.

• Rose Bowl: Crown Signage above the east rim scoreboard, naming rights at suite level as well as entrance/exit gates and "Bank of the West ATM Plaza."

Cal's Memorial stadium, the largest football-only stadium in Northern California, is currently undergoing a $321-million renovation. UCLA's Pauley Pavilion is amid a $136-million face lift and is scheduled to reopen in fall 2012. The Rose Bowl, known as "America's Stadium," is amid a $152-million renovation.

Bank of the West, which operates primarily in 19 western states, had already been a significant IMG College partner at Cal and UCLA. The bank will expand its marketing footprint by adding in-stadium signage, which will be highly visible during the 98th edition of the Rose Bowl game on January 2, according to Peter Mosienko, director of Regional Sales for IMG College. Attendance at Rose Bowl events each year is estimated at 950,000, and the Rose Bowl game consistently ranks as the highest watched college bowl game, behind only the BCS Bowl National Championship Game. Last year, the Rose Bowl drew more than 20 million viewers.
