Catherine Gammon To Lead Business Development For The Collegiate Licensing Company

Feb 13, 2012

ATLANTA, Georgia, (February 13, 2012) – As The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) continues to better align its leadership team around its key business objectives of managing, protecting and developing collegiate partner brands, the IMG College division today announced Catherine Gammon has joined as Senior Vice President, Brand Development.

Gammon, who has 15 years of experience in licensing, marketing, and brand development, will oversee CLC’s Apparel, Non-Apparel, Brand and Retail Development, New Business Development, and NCAA & Bowl Properties divisions, reporting to Cory Moss, Managing Director for The Collegiate Licensing Company.

With Gammon’s appointment, for the first time in its 30 years of existence, CLC will have its senior executives directly aligned with each pillar of its mission in serving collegiate institutions —brand protection, brand management, and brand development.

Most recently, as a consultant to Coca-Cola, Gammon led global initiatives to build system capabilities around experiential marketing and global partnerships. Previously, during a near decade stint at Russell Athletic/Spalding, she served in leadership positions in brand marketing and communications, public relations, sponsorship and customer marketing. Gammon managed Russell/Spalding’s partnerships in sports and entertainment, including relationships with MLB, NBA, Little League Baseball, AFL, and the WBNA, as well as all college partnerships and licensing.

“Having previously worked with CLC and college licensees, I’m elated to join the company in a capacity that will enable our team to continue to drive growth opportunities in collegiate licensing,” Gammon said. “I’m eager to begin working with CLC to create new business opportunities for licensees, retailers, and the collegiate institutions they represent.”

“I am thrilled Catherine Gammon is joining CLC’s leadership team, augmenting our existing reservoir of talent with her broad experience and fresh viewpoint, and demonstrating IMG’s continued investment in and commitment to the collegiate licensing business,” said Cory Moss, SVP and Managing Director for CLC. “Catherine’s experience and relationships in the corporate, licensing, and retail industries will provide a wealth of insight and new perspective in these key areas as we work to grow the collegiate segment of the retail marketplace for our partner institutions.”

Gammon will lead CLC’s expanding initiatives and programs to create new product categories, consumers, and distribution channels for collegiate merchandise. These efforts are focused on: expanding product variety and distribution with national, regional and local retailers; better penetrating consumer segments such as urban, women, and youth; expanding product offerings with categories such as leisure brands, work wear, and outdoor wear; creating innovative partnerships like recent initiatives for collegiate apparel at Brooks Brothers and Old Navy; and increasing the development of new products such as Maui sunglasses, Justin Boots, and the FTD College Rose Collection.

Gammon will also work with CLC’s team to maximize several retail marketing opportunities tied to seasonal programs, such as Saturdays Since 1969, which promotes college football; College Colors Day prior to the college football season; and I Love College Hoops, now underway. These platforms support the retail marketplace for collegiate licensed products, which is estimated at $4.3 billion.
