From First Pitch in South Carolina, IMG Audio to Bring More Than 2,000 College Baseball Games to Fans Coast to Coast This Season

Feb 15, 2013

Winston-Salem, NC (February 15, 2013) – With its leisurely pace and rhythm as natural as a warm summer breeze, baseball was made to be heard.  When the University of South Carolina Gamecocks host Liberty in Columbia this afternoon, and the game is carried on the 20-station Gamecock IMG Sports Network (2:30 p.m. airtime), as well as and South Carolina’s official mobile app, so begins a very busy baseball season for IMG Audio.

From the first pitch at sold-out Carolina Stadium to the final out at the College World Series in Omaha, IMG Audio affiliates will bring to fans more than 2,000 college baseball games and approximately 8,000 hours of coverage via radio, websites, and mobile apps.

The Auburn Tigers, another SEC school team partnering with IMG Audio, take on Maine at 3 p.m., CT. Out-of-market fans can stream the game on, Auburn University’s Athletic Department’s official website.

“This is my 21st year calling Auburn baseball, and I can’t remember the game being at a higher level of popularity and fan passion than right now,” said Rod Bramblett, voice of the Auburn Tigers, who is heard on more than a dozen IMG Audio affiliates. “There’s always great anticipation to the start of another season, which is no surprise, considering the tradition of great baseball here at Auburn with products such as Bo Jackson, Frank Thomas, Gregg Olson, and Tim Hudson.  The same can be said for the entire SEC.”

In the baseball-crazed SEC, Arkansas leads the way as the largest IMG Audio network for a single school. More than 20 affiliates carry Razorbacks baseball. All told, approximately three dozen IMG staffers on the talent and operations side bring SEC baseball to fans.

Fans’ attraction to the crack of a well-batted ball travels well beyond sun-drenched fields of dreams in the Carolinas, Arkansas, Kentucky, Georgia, and Florida. The reigning national champion University of Arizona Wildcats will be hoisting their championship banner – and  celebrated on the IMG Audio Network – in opening the 2013 season today against Coppin State to start a three-game series at Hi Corbett Field.

IMG College Audio, the nation’s largest independent sports radio network, has partnered on the diamond with the last three NCAA National Champions – the Wildcats in 2012, and South Carolina’s consecutive titles the two previous years.

“The full college sports season truly spans nearly the entire calendar year, and baseball continues to provide excitement and affinity for the college fans from winter to early summer,” said Chris Ferris vice president of Audio at IMG College. “People have tremendous loyalty to the universities in their markets and are very passionate about their local school teams.”

From its Winston-Salem studios, the Audio division of IMG College produces nearly 30,000 hours of radio programming on the largest sports network in the country, feeding more than 2,100 radio affiliates nationwide. IMG Audio produces everything a property needs, from game logs to affidavits to securing of talent and more.
