West Virginia University and IMG College Form Multimedia and Sponsorship Partnership

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., (July 11, 2013) – West Virginia University and IMG College, the nation’s leading collegiate marketing agency, have formed a broad multimedia rights and sponsorship partnership designed to bring additional corporate support and fans to the university’s athletics program, it was announced today.

The 12-year agreement includes IMG College’s exclusive representation and management of game broadcasts and coaches’ shows for radio and television, publications, digital assets, corporate partnerships, stadium and venue signage, game promotions, and game day hospitality. 

This new relationship continues the expansion of IMG College’s groundbreaking national collegiate marketing platform. IMG now represents the media and sponsorship rights for more than 90 universities nationwide, including schools in the Big 12, where WVU is emerging as a powerhouse, such as Baylor, Kansas, TCU, and Texas.

“It was time for WVU Athletics to grow our multimedia and sponsorship sales, especially with our recent move to the Big 12 Conference,” said Director of Athletics Oliver Luck. “With the resources, services and proven track record that IMG College brings, WVU now has the opportunity to expand its revenue base by engaging new national sponsors while building our athletic and university brand. I’m extremely pleased with this move.”

WVU’s partnership with IMG will begin in the 2013-14 school year. IMG is currently identifying a dedicated team to be based in Morgantown. Game broadcasts managed by the Mountaineer Sports Network in partnership with West Virginia Radio Corp will move to IMG Audio, the largest independent sports radio network in the U.S., for the 2013-14 season.

IMG College will partner with West Virginia Media Holdings to develop television inventory, including coaches shows and other ancillary TV programming to be determined.

Through its licensing affiliate, The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), IMG College represents WVU’s trademark licensing program. Following a record year of licensing revenue for WVU, the school recently announced a 10-year extension for CLC to continue managing its trademark licensing program through June 30, 2022
