IMG College Adds Jason Gesser to WSU Football Radio Team

May 09, 2014

PULLMAN, Wash. – Jason Gesser, who led Washington State to the 2001 Sun Bowl and 2003 Rose Bowl, has been added to the Cougar football broadcast team, it was announced Friday by Washington State IMG College General Manager Matt Almond. Gesser replaces Shawn McWashington, who served as the radio analyst for the past two seasons.

“I believe Jason will bring a great depth of knowledge to our broadcasts,” Almond said. “He has spent the past three seasons at Wyoming and Idaho as an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, and has previous broadcast experience at Root Sports in Seattle. Jason will bring a unique perspective to our broadcasts.”

Gesser played quarterback at Washington State from1998-2002, leading the Cougars to two bowl games and back-to-back 10-win seasons in 2001 and 2002. As a senior he was named the Pacific-10 Conference Co-MVP on offense and an All-America honorable mention selection by CNNSI.com.

Following his time at WSU, Gesser played in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans, the CFL with the Calgary Stampeders and the Arena Football League with the Utah Blaze. He spent five years coaching high school in the state of Washington (2006-10), two years at the University of Idaho (2011-12) and last season was the quarterbacks coach at Wyoming. While coaching high school Gesser also found time to serve as an analyst for Root Sports, working on a variety of broadcasts.

Gesser will team with legendary broadcaster Bob Robertson, along with Bud Nameck and Jessamyn McIntyre.

IMG College holds the radio broadcast rights for Cougar Athletics and produces the Washington State IMG College Sports Network.
