State Broadcaster of the Year Honors for Five IMG Audio Voices

Jan 10, 2014

Winston-Salem, N.C. –  Five IMG Audio voices have been named their respective states’ “Broadcaster of the Year,” by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA) Hall of Fame, executive director Dave Goren has announced.

In Virginia, radio play-by-play announcer Bill Roth of the Virginia Tech IMG Sports Network, who celebrated his 26th year as the Voice of the Hokies, won his eleventh Sportscaster of the Year Award.

Coming off two epic calls during Auburn’s magical late-season run to the BCS title game, Rod Bramblett, Voice of the Auburn Tigers on the Auburn IMG Sports Network, was named Alabama’s top sportscaster for the third time.

In North Carolina, Jeff Charles of the Pirate IMG Sports Network, who valiantly returned to the ECU booth while fighting stage-three colorectal cancer – even taking chemo during a game – was recognized for the first time by NSSA.

Joe Fisher, who has been Voice of the Commodores for 16 years on the Vanderbilt IMG Sports Network, was awarded in Tennessee for the first time.

Russ Langer of the UNLV IMG Sports Network received his ninth State Sportscaster of the Year honor in Nevada. This marks the seventh straight year Langer, who is also the Las Vegas 51s (Triple A) play-by-play voice, has received the Nevada state award.

“We’re so proud of Bill, Rod, Jeff, Joe and Russ for their passion, pride in their craft, dedication to fans, and tireless service to their respective universities,” said Ben Sutton Jr., President of IMG College.
