TuneIn and IMG College to Distribute NCAA Men’s Basketball Conference Tournament Coverage for The American and Pac-12

Mar 04, 2014

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. (March 4, 2014) – IMG College, which operates the nation’s largest independent sports radio network, today announced an expansion of its collaboration with TuneIn, the world’s leading service for listening to live radio. TuneIn and IMG College will provide free audio conference tournament coverage for NCAA Men’s Basketball.

TuneIn will distribute every one of IMG Audio’s Pac-12 Championship Tournament broadcasts as well as a national version of the American Athletic Conference championship tournament produced by IMG Audio. IMG will feature continual coverage of the inaugural American tournament in Memphis, including pre- and post-game shows, as well as video coverage on The American’s web site (www.TheAmerican.org). IMG represents the marketing and sponsorship rights for The American’s post-season championships.

Last fall, TuneIn made a successful foray into Pac-12 sports by launching 24/7 stations for every Pac-12 school, including IMG College’s network programming at Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Oregon, UCLA, Washington, and Washington State. Last

TuneIn specializes in serving a large population of displaced sports fans who cannot easily access live content. The live games can be accessed for free through TuneIn on more than 200 platforms, including smartphones, tablets, gaming consoles, and in automobiles across more than 230 countries and territories. The game broadcasts are available via the universities’ official athletics web sites, the TuneIn Radio app, and TuneIn.com.

“TuneIn proved to be popular with Pac-12 football fans, and we’re thrilled to extend that success into Conference Championship basketball,” said Chad Cleveland, Assistant VP of Digital Content and Strategic Partnerships. “College fans often live in markets far outside the terrestrial broadcast signals, and TuneIn gives them access to the school programs they avidly follow. The service is a great compliment to our terrestrial radio affiliates in bringing fans free audio broadcasts on a variety of platforms. Fans can enjoy their favorite school team’s home radio call from anywhere in the world – on their computer, in the car, or on their smartphone.”

“We are excited to partner with IMG and TuneIn to offer fans of The American and our member schools free access to our men’s basketball championship audio broadcasts on a variety of platforms,” said Mike Aresco, American Athletic Conference Commissioner. “The American is committed to working with partners who offer fans the latest in media technology.”

Fans can simply search “college basketball” on the free TuneIn Radio app, visit TuneIn.com/collegebasketball or visit each university’s Official Athletic website to hear live games, and team-related programming and updates. Fans using the free TuneIn Radio app on iPhone, iPad or Android devices can add upcoming live games to a digital calendar.

“For The American, TuneIn’s broad user base and multiple platforms will amplify the Conference’s audience reach and give sponsors access to the TuneIn platform as well,” Cleveland said.

In addition to the IMG Audio games, TuneIn will also distribute upwards of 20 additional Conference Championships, including the Big East Championship and the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship from WestwoodOne and the Big Ten Conference Championship from Compass Media Networks.

The addition of college basketball, following its college football offering, bolsters the already extensive list of live international events on TuneIn, which today includes a mix of live sports, pre and post-shows, interviews, podcasts, concerts and more. The service has more than 40 million monthly active listeners worldwide.
