NEW YORK (January 29, 2015) – IMG today announced the appointment of Tim Pernetti as President of Multimedia for IMG College, effective March 2015. In this role, Pernetti will report directly to WME | IMG COO Jason Lublin and IMG College Chairman and President Ben Sutton.

Previously, Pernetti served as Chief Business Officer of the New York City Football Club (NYCFC), where he was instrumental in the building and launching of New York’s newest Major League Soccer franchise. During his tenure, Pernetti oversaw all commercial operations at NYCFC, including television and media rights, marketing, partnerships, sponsorship, and ticket sales.

Prior to joining NYCFC, Pernetti served as Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at Rutgers University. In this role, he designed and executed Rutgers’ entrance into the Big Ten Conference across all sports, providing the school greater conference support, an enhanced student-athlete experience, increased financial resources, broad based media exposure, and access to the new college football post-season. Pernetti transformed the business of athletics at Rutgers, generating a significant increase in revenue over a four-year period through fundraising, sponsorship, venue and facility naming rights, premium seating and hospitality, and food service/concessions.

“Tim’s a true expert in collegiate athletics and multimedia rights,” said Sutton. “Combine that with his entrepreneurial approach and outstanding leadership abilities and he’s the perfect fit for this role.”

IMG College’s exclusive multimedia rights span more than 90 universities and conferences, covering 51 of the top 56 U.S. Nielsen markets. The business’ national collegiate sports marketing platform includes 35,000 hours of radio programming produced annually on the nation’s largest independent sports network; 5,000 hours of annual TV programming; university sports publications; and schools’ digital channels.

Pernetti’s early career included various roles in sports television and media as a programming executive and deal-maker for networks including CBS College Sports and ABC Sports.

He received both his B.A. and M.A. from Rutgers University, and is an active member of his community, serving on the Board of Directors of The Eric LeGrand Foundation, The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, and the Reed Academy, a school for children with Autistic Spectrum disorder. He also serves his hometown of Oakland, NJ, as Commissioner of Youth Football.

“There’s never been a more exciting and transformative time in collegiate athletics,” said Pernetti. “The landscape is changing rapidly, and IMG College is well-positioned to lead this growing industry forward. We will work hard to provide expert outside support in all areas of the business of athletics and deliver universities and brands the best and most innovative solutions and opportunities.”
