The Air Force Academy today announced an expansion of its agreement with IMG College to extend its multimedia rights and licensing relationships through 2026. The deal, which includes the installation of an auxiliary 50-foot videoboard at Falcon Stadium, adds seven years onto the existing agreement between Air Force and IMG College.
IMG College will continue to provide a broad array of solutions to the Air Force Academy in multimedia rights, licensing, and stadium seating.
“We have enjoyed a great relationship with IMG College and look forward to working with this world-class organization as we move forward in Air Force athletics,” said Jim Knowlton, Athletic Director at the Air Force Academy. “IMG College is a giant in our industry and brings instant credibility to our brand. They have really helped us enhance many areas and we look forward to continued success with them.”
Air Force’s partnership with IMG allowed it to host the 2016 Brad Paisley Country Nation College Tour during Air Force/Navy rivalry week as well as the inaugural 2016 Kickoff Weekend featuring Tim McGraw and Train, which was also facilitated by Basis Entertainment. In 2017, Blake Shelton and Big & Rich will perform during Kickoff Weekend.
“It is truly an honor to be partners with the Air Force Academy and we are thrilled to continue providing solutions for all areas of the Academy’s athletics programs,” said Tim Pernetti, President of Multimedia, IMG. “Air Force is truly unique and one of the nation’s most identifiable brands and institutions. We look forward to bringing even more partnerships, unique programming opportunities, and a terrific fan experience on behalf of the Falcons.”
The multimedia rights extension adds to an agreement that dates back to 2011. It includes IMG College’s exclusive representation and management of the Air Force IMG Radio Network, in-venue signage and promotions, video board features, retail promotions utilizing Air Force Athletics logos, corporate hospitality, gameday promotions, digital solutions, and endorsements for coaches.
The new 50-foot auxiliary videoboard in Falcon Stadium complements the Academy’s additional investment in an 80-foot videoboard and 220 feet of endzone ribbon boards, which were installed in 2016.
IMG will continue managing the Academy’s successful trademark licensing program for the duration of the agreement. The partnership will give the Academy continued access to leading brand protection, brand management, and brand development services through a comprehensive trademark licensing program customized by the Collegiate Licensing Company, the licensing affiliate of IMG College. Additionally, Air Force will continue to benefit from CLC’s proven licensing services, which allow it to contract with best-in-class licensees that will advance its goals and marketplace position.
The Air Force licensing program has grown 253% in the lifetime of its partnership. CLC has increased retail distribution and product selection of USAFA merchandise by securing a presence for the Falcons in key retailers such as Walmart and Dicks Sporting Goods.
CLC, the oldest and largest collegiate licensing agency in the United States, currently represents nearly 200 colleges, universities, bowl games, and athletic conferences in the $4.55 billion retail market for collegiate licensed merchandise.
