Lone Star Showdown:
The annual Texas vs. Texas A&M football game is one of the top ranking college rivalries in the country. The teams have been facing off for over a century, and the rivalry takes on special significance not only because they are two premier universities and athletics programs located in the same state--they are also within 100 miles of each other. Though football takes the spotlight, as it often does in Texas, it is but one game in a series of match-ups between the schools over the academic year, known as the Lone Star Showdown Series. Both universities draw millions of fans to their athletic events each year, and the rivalry creates anticipation for fans, regardless of the sport. Aggies and Longhorns love a chance to beat their rival, and anyone living in Texas knows it is impossible to remain neutral. Sponsorship of the Lone Star Showdown Series is a unique opportunity to create an alliance with both universities that extends to a local, regional and national market of fans. Considering over one million loyal alumni, students, faculty and staff, and the fierce loyalty of college sports fans, it makes sense to be a part of the Lone Star Showdown Series.
